Author Guidelines

1. The author will have read the general editorial policy of the newspaper. Any text that does not comply will be returned. No financial contribution will be requested from the author for the submission of his article. The same will apply to all expert reports on texts (articles, reports, summaries) which reach the Editorial Office.

2. The article will be unpublished and will not have been sent to other places of publication. Nor was it offered simultaneously to several journals. The author will sign a "declaration of originality and assignment of reproduction and representation rights". An article cannot have more than 3 authors.

3. Proposal and article will be in French and English. Articles (falling within the theme or scattered) are accepted, always within the limits of the editorial space available.

4. The preselected articles will follow an anonymous double evaluation process by peer members of the scientific committee and / or by external evaluators. The author will receive the committee's decision.

5. If the article receives a favorable opinion in principle, its author will be invited to proceed, as soon as possible, to any corrections requested by the reviewers and the editorial board. The articles, provided they comply with the requested corrections, will then be subject to the final acceptance decision, always subject to the decision of the experts from the Scientific Council and the Director of publications.

6. The single font size is 12 for all proposed text (presentation, article, review) from titles to notes, citations and bibliography included). The article title, centered, in bold, will have no initials and will not be too long. The first name, the name of the author (in bold, without indication or abbreviation of title or rank), of his institution, of his country and his email address (preferably professional and at the discretion of the author) will also be centered and in small print.

7. The author will precede his article with a condensed abstract or synopsis of 6-8 lines maximum followed by 3 or 5 keywords in small print, without initial capital letters. This summary must in no case be reproduced in article

8. The whole (title, summary, keywords) in French will be followed by its translation in English (and vice-versa). In the case of a non-French-speaking article, the order of the summaries is unchanged. Keywords will be separated by commas and will not have a full stop.

9. The font is Times New Roman, size 12, line spacing. The justified text, in Word file, doc format, must be entered per kilometer (automatic line feed), without tabulation, pagination or color. The journal has its own formatting standard.

10. The article must include between 4000 and 8000 words, ie 6-10 Word pages, visual elements, bibliography, notes and spaces included. Unless specially ordered by the publisher, articles departing from these limits will not be accepted.

11. All paragraphs (bold sub-headings without initials, small print) will be separate with a single space. The division of the article into 1, 2 or even 3 levels of title is sufficient.

12. The words or expressions that the author wishes to highlight will be in quotes or in italics. Underlining, bold characters and capital letters will in no case be used, even for proper names in bibliographic references, except the initial capital letter.

13. Notes, preferably brief, in limited number, will appear at the end of the article with a continuous automatic note call (1,2, ... 5 and not i, ii ... iv). The author will ensure that the space taken by the notes is reduced compared to the body of the text.

14. In the body of the text, the references to the bibliography will appear as follows: (Dupont, 1999: 55).

15. Citations, always in compliance with copyright, will be in italics, size 10, separated from the body of the text by a line and without paragraph. Short quotes will remain in the body of the text. Citations in a language other than that of the article will be translated in the body of the article with the original version in note.

16. The bibliography at the end of the article will precede the notes (without any paragraph in the references, or capital letters for proper names except the initial). It will mainly stick to the works cited in the article and will be established by chrono-alphabetical classification of proper names. Long bibliographies, more than 15 references, must be justified by the nature of the research presented. Articles whose bibliography does not exactly follow instructions 14, 17, 18, 19 and 20 will be returned to the author. All without color, underline or hypertext link.

20. For electronic references (never placed in the body of the text but always in the bibliography), the authors will take care to adopt the standards indicated by the editors for citing books and articles online. They will delete hyperlink, color and automatic underlining and indicate the most recent date of consultation [consulted on….], After checking their reliability and respect for Copyright.

21. Graphics, diagrams, figures, photos, if any, will be sent separately in Word and PDF or JPEG formats, in black and white only, with the obligation of copyright references without being copied / pasted but scanned at more than 300 pixels. Articles containing a high number of figures and tables and / or of poor scientific and technical quality will not be accepted. The publisher reserves the right to refuse tables and figures (always expensive), in redundancy with the written data which are often enough for a clear understanding of the subject treated.

22. Screenshots on the Internet and extracts from films or advertising images will be refused. Any part of the text subject to intellectual property must be rewritten in Word, indicating the references, the source of the text and any authorization.

23. Only articles that comply with the editorial policy and editorial guidelines will be edited, published, put online on the website of the University of Burundi and distributed in full open access by it. The date of publication will depend on the general coordination of the work by the editor. The editor of a scientific journal respecting the standards of international agencies assesses the quality of projects on several levels. The publisher, its experts or its reviewers (peer review) reserve the right to assess whether the work is suitable, on the one hand, for the purpose and objectives of publication, and on the other hand, for the formal quality of the latter. The publisher has a preferential right.

24. Once edited, only the "PDF-editor" version of the article can be filed for archiving in the author's institutional directories exclusively, with exact reference to the article's references and metadata. Any report or referencing must respect international standards and the method of quoting the article, as duly specified in the journal's policy.

25. Each author of a published article receives the electronic version of the entire issue. If he wishes the printed version, the shipping costs will be at his expense.
